Aseef Ahmed, D.O.

Dr. Aseef H. Ahmed is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with fellowship training in glaucoma and cataract surgery. 
After attaining his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Rhode Island, Dr. Ahmed completed medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. He then completed internship training at Mass General Brigham/Salem Hospital, and then his residency in ophthalmology at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. In his final year, he served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Mervin Zimmerman M.D. Award for humanism, excellent patient care, and surgical skills. He completed fellowship training in glaucoma at Tufts Medical Center/New England Eye Center and the Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. 
Dr. Ahmed is trained in performing incisional glaucoma surgery, as well as the latest minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) such as iStent Inject, OMNI Surgical System, Hydrus Microstent, and Kahook dual blade. He is also skilled in performing astigmatism correcting cataract surgery and the use of specialty intraocular lenses. 
He has been active in clinical research and has presented at multiple national ophthalmic meetings. He obtained several research grants during medical school to fund his projects and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of dry eye, uveitis, ocular oncology, and glaucoma. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. 
Dr. Ahmed grew up in Rhode Island and has now made Massachusetts his new home. He enjoys exploring the outdoors, gardening, sculpting, and spending time with family.
